How to design a successful local industrial strategy

Join the What Works Centre for Local Economic Growth at a one-day event to launch guidance, developed in partnership with local areas and Whitehall, on how to design and deliver local industrial strategies. We are delighted to welcome Lord Henley,Minister for Industrial Strategy at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy who will deliver a keynote speech on the day.

As part of its national industrial strategy, local areas have been given the opportunity to deliver policy that addresses their unique challenges whether around transport, skills or research and development.

But crucial to this is an understanding that no two industrial strategies need look the same, and local areas should take steps to get to grips with their labour market and firm base, and use this knowledge to inform their own strategy.

As well as hearing from Lord Henley, the event will be an opportunity for Local Enterprise Partnership, Combined Authorities, civil servants and local delivery organisations to hear about the best methods for the design and delivery of more effective industrial strategies, this event will draw out key lessons and guidance developed through regular conversations with a number of local areas around England.

The event will run from 10.30am until 3pm on Monday 25 June and will take place at RICS, 12 Great George Street, London, SW1P 3AD.
