Improving local transport: what does the evidence say?

This high-level roundtable will discuss the emerging findings from the fifth evidence review being undertaken by the What Works Centre for Local Economic Growth, which looks at the impact of road and rail infrastructure investments. This roundtable for senior practitioners, policy-makers and businesses will be an opportunity to discuss some of the key findings from the review and the implications for local and national policy makers in the UK.

The roundtable will be followed by a workshop on how to use and produce evidence to inform policy. This will be led by John Holden, director of economic strategy at New Economy, who will examine the opportunities and challenges faced by areas in using and developing evidence to inform policy, drawing upon the experience Manchester has gained over many years of feeding evaluation back into policy formulation.
