SERC and What Works Seminar: Evaluating entrepreneurship training programs in the US

The What Works Centre and the Spatial Economics Research Centre are delighted to welcome Robert Fairlie, Professor and Chair of Economics at UC Santa Cruz, for an academic seminar at the LSE.

Prof Fairlie will be discussing new research on hiring patterns in startups, and the factors that explain why new firms hire their first employee. The research is based on one of the world’s largest entrepreneurship randomised control trials, Project GATE.

The seminar will be of interest to anyone working on business support and entrepreneurship policy, as well as policy evaluation. Please note that it’s part of an academic seminar series, so some of the discussion will get quite technical.

The seminar is free to attend and all are welcome. More details are here.
