What Works Growth Workshop – Chelmsford

The What Works Centre for Local Economic Growth and New Economy Manchester are organising a series of workshops across the country in the Spring to support local economic policy practitioners. This workshop in Chelmsford will be held with the kind support of Essex County Council.

The workshop will use the experience that Greater Manchester has gained over 20 years of building evaluation into the policymaking process, and look at how different aspects of this could be applied in other parts of the country. John Holden, director of research at New Economy, and Richard Waggott, principal researcher at New Economy, will lead the workshop, examining the opportunities and challenges faced by local authorities in using and developing evidence to inform local economic policy, and running through New Economy’s Green Book-approved cost benefit analyses and how these methods can be used in other places.
